Shop More! Appliqués have been used for hundreds of years in design and architectural details. Originally, the term appliqué was used when one piece of fabric material was cut out and applied on top of another. Although when referring to a decorative appliqués, most people assume a fabric design, modern applications have been to use wood and apply them onto walls and other wooden products.

Wooden appliqués are a decorative item that is commonly placed on corbels, fireplace mantels, cabinets, walls, and many other situations. By essence, appliqués are solely a decorative pieces, usually carved with very intricate designs, some of the more popular ones being: grape vine, oak leaf, acanthus leaf, shells, and many more. When a designer is looking to add some elegance to otherwise plain cabinets or furniture, decorative wooden appliqués are usually one of their considerations. This style of architectural details often adds just the touch of elegance otherwise not found.

Wood appliqués are individual relief carvings used as architectural accents. The word "appliqué" is derived from the French "appliqué", meaning to place or lay upon. Common names for carved wood appliqués are wood onlays, embossed carvings and ginger breads.

Our wooden decorations have the flexibility to be manufactured from any species of wood. With that versatility, we can match the wood from your favorite piece of furniture, such as a head beard of your bed.

With several different styles of carvings available, there are sure to be appliqués and other architectural details that suite your project perfectly. Are your walls starting to look a little boring? Why not think about making your walls more interesting with appliqués? If you are trying to brighten up a child's room, a simple, inexpensive wall appliqué might be stick-on glow-in-the-dark stars. However, if you want to really make a statement, consider wood appliqués for your home.

Traditionally, people were usually talking about fabrics when talking about appliqués. An appliqué, when discussing fabric design, is a piece of cut cloth that was applied, usually by sewing, on top of another piece of material for decorative purposes. Today, the term is used to also describe wood that has been cut and decorated. This wood is then used to adorn walls or other wood products.

All wall appliqués have one thing in common. They are all ornate. The question that you have to ask yourself when choosing appliqués is how ornate you want your house to feel. Wood appliqués can be shells, grape vines, or a series of leaves. You can use swags or scrolls to liven up your kitchen walls or a series of rosettes in your hallway.

If you really want to go all out, consider custom millwork. You can design your own appliqués which will be hand crafted. If you are thinking about custom millwork, you might also want to have a look at any other wood products in your home that you might want to have customized, such as doors or windows.

While we are talking about wall appliqués, do not forget about onlays. Onlays are used to spruce up furniture, such as cabinets, and appliances. Onlays can be a nice way to carry your appliqué themes throughout the house.

Whether you choose stock items or custom millwork, appliqués will make your home more elegant. This may add to the resale value of your home if you should ever choose to sell. And, it will make your home uniquely yours.
